More than 100 people have died and around a thousand have been injured and hospitalized in Goma over the last three days of fighting in the main town in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to information provided by local authorities, during the period of combat more than 100 people were killed, and the number of injured was previously estimated at a thousand. The majority of the victims were hospitalized to receive medical assistance. The situation in the region remains tense due to the ongoing military actions and clashes between armed groups.

One of the official representatives stated: "We are calling for the cessation of hostilities and dialogue between the parties to the conflict to achieve a peaceful resolution of the situation." At the same time, the government is conducting an investigation to establish the reasons for the escalation of violence and identify those responsible.
