In the town of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, a mass escape from a prison occurred early Monday, following the seizure of the facility by the armed group M23, a source told the rights group Agence France Presse.
According to this agency's correspondent, escapees were spotted on the streets of the outskirts. The source reported that the prison, which contained approximately 3,000 inmates, "was completely burned" after a large-scale escape operation, resulting in "deaths," without additional details.
